What is Pre-Marital Counseling?
Pre-marital counseling is a form of couples therapy that can help you and your partner prepare for your marriage. Pre-marital counseling helps couples strengthen their foundation and plan for how to navigate issues that may arise in even the healthiest of marriages.
What to expect Pre-marital counseling?
Pre-marital counseling typically includes the following topics: Each partner’s expectations for the marriage, healthy communication skills, constructive conflict management strategies, important topics unique to you and your relationship, and expectations regarding children including parenting philosophies and responsibilities.
Dr. Kelly typically asks couples to plan on attending a minimum of 5 hours of pre-marital counseling. This can be completed in five 60-minute sessions or in fewer sessions of greater length. Dr. Kelly will provide a letter confirming your completion of pre-marital counseling should you need one.
